And yes, that is a condom
This has been an announcement from a procrastinating college student.
Some days life doesn’t go how I want it to
and some days pass by like the river to my left.
So here’s my hope that I’ll keep living this life like my heart is beating for two
and just because there may be two lives
it doesn’t mean it make this whole thing any easier.
And I’ll dream that this neighbor of mine will make it through the night
just one more time.
It takes a little bit of hope
that I’ll keep living this life like my heart is beating for two
just to make sure that someone special can see that
some days life doesn’t go how we want it
and some days pass like the river to our left.
We have to see that we are not as far apart as it seems
because we all have little moments that change our lives
to become more human.
I know I haven’t been posting lately. Please, please, forgive me!
It’s a busy semester! That’s for sure.
So, to make sure that I keep writing even when I have classes and all I challenged myself to write for 15 minutes.
And what happens, happens.
This is what I wrote…I don’t think the ending is the best..but oh well!

—————
I’m in love with a dying man,
Whose age is unknown
And has a heart of stone.
—–
Black char in his lungs,
That’s just from all the fun
And games.
——-
His eyes are glossy
From all the cocaine
And pounding pavement.
—–
He has clenched fists,
Trying to find something
That doesn’t exist.
——-
The sun is calling his name
From state to state
And he can’t hear it.
——
Can’t hear it
Because his ears silence
All the truths of old.
——
So he minds his own
And take a sip of coffee
With a hit of cocaine to stop the pain.
——-
The rage of knowing
He is more than what he has made
Of his wandering life.
——
His dreams are down
The drain of his white porcelain kitchen sink
That has whiskey stains.
——
Whiskey,
That’s only for those nights
When the burn is needed in his heart.
——-
Just to remind him
That he is still alive
And breathing in this hellhole called life.
——-
If only he could be everything,
Everything someone wanted
And more to get back the real glow in his eyes.
——–
He doesn’t want those girls who sell their souls
For one good high
And leave before the sun has even arrived.
——-
Something real
That even he can’t forget,
When he takes a sip of his coffee.
———
It might look bad
That he can’t remember the last time
He was sober and saw the sunshine.
———
So, instead of taking a hit
Of cocaine, he smokes a piece of paper
That she wrote a year ago to the day.
——-
A piece of notebook paper
In the same coffee shop
That he sips his coffee and takes hits of cocaine.
———
He lights it on fire
And breathes it in.
Inhaling the fumes of the written word.
——
It reads,
“My love, you are my life
And love is what I have for you.
Breathe me in
——-
Like I’m your caffeine and cocaine fix
And I hope you won’t forget…
That you are…..
——
And you won’t forget….
——
That you are…..
——–
Somebody’s somebody.”
